Chairman – Peter Catton

Peter has lived in Wetherby for 40+ years. Within the Society he has organised visits and speakers and is particularly involved in representing the Civic Society in the planning of major housing developments.
Vice-Chair Malcolm Gardner

Malcolm is a director of Spofforth Park Management Company and leads Visionary Network, a consultancy supporting local councils and central government. With a background in senior local government roles, he has extensive expertise in administration, management, social policy and law. A proud husband, father, polymath, Fabian, and humanist, he also enjoys history and art and is an active panelologist. He joined the Executive Committee in 2025
Treasurer – Angela Winterbottom

Angela has lived in Wetherby since 1976. She helps organise the programme of visits and talks for members and is currently Treasurer.
Jean Chapman – Secretary

Jean has lived in Wetherby for over 30 years and joined Wetherby Civic Society when it started and has been an active member ever since.
She worked in Wetherby for many years until retirement beckoned. Jean has been secretary of the society for a number of years.
Roger Taylor

Roger and his wife have lived in Wetherby for over 40 years and has been a member of the WCS for ages, enjoying his involvement in the town and what is going on locally. Roger enjoys looking at villages, towns and cities and seeing how others protect their heritage
Victor Hawkins

Victor is a former Town Councillor. He holds a vast digital photo archive illustrating the history of Wetherby. He is well known through presenting many illustrated talks locally.
Charles Stones

Charles has lived in Wetherby all his life and always taken an interest in the town. He joined the society in 2023.
Cindy Bentley

Cindy has lived in Wetherby for over 50 years and has recently moved into the town centre. She is very involved in several local organisations including the Wetherby Festival. She has been a member of WCS for a number of years and is a town guide.
Nic Sheppard

Nic lives in the town centre and has been in Wetherby over 30 years. Most of that time he has been a member of the Civic Society and has taken a particular interest in the guided town walks and responding to planning applications.
