1929-2009
Marie started writing for Wetherby News from the age of 19 and continued even after her ‘official’ retirement. She showed a genuine interest in people and all that was happening around her. She is best remembered for putting her reflective and sometimes challenging thoughts into her weekly ‘Our Wetherby’s column which many thought was the real voice of Wetherby in the Wetherby News. She maintained an enormous contact list and many other organisations, clubs and societies, like the Wetherby Thursday Club, appreciated her unique comments and the publicity of being reported in the newspaper.
